What's for dinner...lunch...and breakfast?

Lylah is no stranger to food. At almost eight months old, she has tried a wide array of veggies and fruits. So far she hasn't come accross anything that she just plain 'ol hated. Now while my little lady loves to gobble up her food, I have found that I have a new love for making her food! I seriously wish I could start a homeade baby food business. I'll blog more about how fun and easy making baby food is later, but for now, here is what Lylah is eating.

avacado- by far her favorite food and so super healthy for babies!
parsnips- she likes these better combined with other veggies such as carrots or sweet tators
brocolli & calliflower- she didn't like this at all at first but now she gobbles it up
peas- another favorite and fun to combine with carrots
veggie trio- this was a recipe from the book Top 100 Baby Purees it had parsnip, sweet tators, and carrots
apples
pears
necterine-
bannanas
cereal- I have to put a cube of apples in her cereal to get her to eat it
watermelon- actually she only tried this once, but totally loved it

This week I'm going to wip up a veggie and cheese recipe from the above book as well as something with salmon. So, as you can see Lylah loves her foods and her mama loves to make them. Oh, and just for the record I can't wait to visit the farmers market for some fresh spring/summer fruits and veggies!!!

My favorite thing about Spring

Every year I wait patiently for the field near our house to bloom. Daffodils. My favorite flower in the world. I have a tradition of sorts; every year I walk down to the field with my neighbors and we pick bouquets and take pictures. Well, Lylah and I were on a walk the other day and discovered the field had in fact started to bloom. Good thing I grabbed my camera just in case. Lylah was so funny, she played with, cuddled, and tried to eat the flowers. In fact, after mutilating one of the flowers I attempted to take it away and she cried!! It was so cute-I guess they are her favorite flowers too! We picked 3 to take home (I already had a full vase that Nathan had picked me) and she played with them the whole way. We'll go back again soon with my neighbors for more pictures and more memories!

Happy Belated Birthday Dr. Seuss!

So one of my favorite times of the school year has always been Dr. Seuss "week" as I call it. The week of Dr. Seuss' birthday I like to do an author study with my kids. I've actually done this since my first year teaching. Now, that year I did accidently turn my kiddos green when an oobleck recipe went all wrong, but we all recovered and it has become a tradition to take a week of the year to celebrate all things Seuss. Last year my team teacher and I decided to make Wednesday Wacky. Basically we change some things in the room and make a really big deal about it. This is where teaching kindergarten is too fun because the kiddos really get into it. Something so simple as moving some stuffed animals and other items around and making the tables crooked earned at least 5 minutes of pure excitment. I'm not going to lie though, I think I get just as excited as them. I guess that might be why I decided it would be appropriate to start the love of Seuss early for lil' Lylah. We had a fun night of reading our our two Dr. Seuss board books. Lylah esp. enjoyed chewing on them and raising them above her head over and over again. I think we'll make a tradition of it for sure...well hopefully not the book chewing part. Anyway, here are a few pictures from our fun.

Back in the saddle again

Once upon a time I tried to manage a blog; it didn't go so well mainly because I could not seem to remember my password. So needless to say I'm going to have another go at it. This time I'll make sure to write all important information down...if I can remember.
